Bring your key to the shop at 1014 Manhattan Ave and walk out with copies, cut on site.
What keys do you cut?
House and apartment keys, building and vestibule keys, mailbox keys, padlock keys, and most of the keys that live on a Greenpoint key ring. We match the blank to your key, cut it on the machine in the shop, and check the cut against the original before it goes in your hand. Bring the key itself: a photo is not enough to cut from.
When people come in for this
- You just moved in and everyone in the apartment needs a key.
- The super, a dog walker, or a cleaner needs a copy of the building key.
- Your only mailbox key is getting thin and you want a spare before it breaks.
- A padlock on a storage cage or a gate came with one key.
- You keep a spare with a neighbor and the neighbor moved.
Can you copy a key marked do not duplicate?
Some keys are restricted and copies are only made for the people on the account. If your key is a controlled high security key, tell us and we explain what the manufacturer allows. For a plain stamped warning on an ordinary key, bring it in and we look at it with you.
What if the copy does not turn?
Bring it back. A copy cut from a worn original can be a hair off, and we recut it from a better key or from the lock itself. If the lock is the problem, we tell you and you decide whether to rekey or replace it.
Can I come to the shop instead?
