We fix, change, rekey, and upgrade the locks on your frame house, row house, walk-up, or condo door, and we cut the keys at the shop.
What do you do for homes in Greenpoint?
The housing here is a mix: vinyl-sided frame houses with wood doors that have shifted over the decades, brick row houses, pre-war walk-ups with shared vestibules, and newer condos near the waterfront with fob entry downstairs. We open doors, rekey locks when you move in, swap worn deadbolts, add a second lock, and fix doors that no longer latch.
When people call us for this
- You just signed a lease and want new keys so the old ones stop working.
- The deadbolt needs a push and a wiggle before it turns.
- You want a stronger lock on a ground-floor door.
- The front door of the building closes but does not lock.
- An old mortise lock in a frame house has stopped catching.
New lock or new keys?
If the lock works well, a rekey keeps it on the door and changes the pins inside, and you get new keys cut at the shop. If it is loose, worn, or cracked, we replace it. We tell you which before we start.
How do I start?
Walk into the shop, call, or text a photo of the lock and the edge of the door. We say what it needs and give you a written quote before any work starts.
What happens on the visit?
We come out from the shop with the parts your call or your photo told us to bring. Before we touch anything we show you what is worn, bent, or broken, then we do the work and test every lock and every key with you before we go. If the door itself needs something, we say so and you decide.
Frequently asked
Can you match my apartment key to the building door?
Often, yes. If both locks share a keyway, we can set them up on one key.
I rent. Do you need my landlord?
If your lease has rules about the door hardware, tell us and we work within them.
